Bloodline of Conjurers, Part Deux

Hello everyone, I hope this holiday season finds you well. As today is the 29th anniversary of our beloved Tales series, I would like to point out another translation patch Easter Egg you may have missed if you were a long-time visitor of the site.

I already introduced Tales of the World: Summoner’s Lineage, the distant-future sequel to Tales of Phantasia, in a previous post over a decade ago, so please go there and read it over if you haven’t before. Back already? Did you read it? Very carefully? You may recall my propensity for writing giant walls of text discussing favorite topics of mine, with links to translation patch releases or admissions of trolling sometimes hidden somewhere within them. Are you sure you read that post very carefully?

I will now spoil it for you, so last chance to go back and find it yourself. Okay, here it is: If you carefully examine the period after the phrase “Sasuke Uchiha”, you will find the link to the partial English translation patch. It’s most unfortunate that people didn’t seem to find it the first time around, as I was hoping to get some feedback on it over the past decade, but better late than never, I suppose. For the less pixel hunting-inclined I will now provide a link below as well:

The patch covers the first three missions that more or less serve as the first chapter of the story, introducing the main characters, Flein and Macaron, the antagonist, Xex, and some plot elements. There was also translation of various menu text and graphics and extensive hacking/programming that should make the rest of the game more easily playable for English speakers. Please see the readme for further details.

Also, as with the other projects, if you know Japanese to a reasonable extent, have the integrity to not use machine translation or editing (Google TL, DeepL, ChatGPT, etc.), and would be interested in translating more, please contact me. Thanks!
