We here at KAJITANI-EIZAN’s Patch Site hope you have been doing well! Since it has been a while since my scathing quasi-review of The Tales That Must Not Be Named, I figured I should give an update on what’s been going on with Tales and what sorts of Tales things I’ve been helping out with over the past couple of months. Chances are you’ve heard of much of this already unless you’ve been living under a rock, but hey.
First, I should mention that Tales of Zestiria was released in Japan! Fan opinion has been rather mixed, in large part due to unfulfilled expectations regarding who the game’s main heroine would be. Let’s just say that I hope you liked Ras, Asch, Flynn, and Richard from previous Tales games. It should arrive on Western shores for your Playstation 3 (and, rumor has it, possibly PC!) in the coming months, hopefully with a quality localization, but if you want a sneak peek of the game’s world-setting and characters, check out the Tales of Zestiria TV special, fan-subtitled in English.
Second, the Tales of Vesperia PS3 team released said fantranslation of Tales of Vesperia for the PS3! For those of you without the custom firmware required to play the translated version, there’s also an online translation guide that is intended to supplement your experience playing through the Japanese version of the game. And please, if you pirated the game, you’ll find that the patcher won’t work for you. Don’t ask for help on the forums or IRC channel; just go buy it. The team’s site has a handy Play-Asia affiliate link on the left-hand side.
Third, as you probably already know, I’ve been helping out behind the scenes with Absolute Zero‘s projects. They are working tirelessly around the clock to bring you Tales games in English. Work on ToPX, NDX, ToIR, ToDR, and ToD2 continues smoothly as before. You should check out their site for a reveal of a special Easter egg in Tales of Innocence that you may have missed!
Speaking of which, I figure I might as well reveal a special Easter egg in the Tales of Hearts: Translator’s Cut demo that you also may have missed. A few of you already know about this, but I’m not sure the rest of you do. First, everyone does know that the Translator’s Cut demo is a real thing, right? I’m honestly still not sure. Maybe I trolled a little too hard that time? Anyway, as I hinted at repeatedly, Hisui indeed does have a new High Ohgee (or, “Mystic Arte”, as they’re called in the official English releases) in the Translator’s Cut which can only be used in Emotional Meltdown Overdrive mode. If you still have your demo handy, here’s how to perform this super secret Higher EMOhgee:
- Fill Hisui’s Combination Gauge (the gauge underneath his HP gauge) to the maximum, which is represented by a full blue bar.
- Fill Hisui’s Emotional Gauge (the blue and red gauge above your HP) to the maximum, which is a full red bar, to enter EMO mode.
- While still in EMO mode, use Hisui’s Breaking Kick Arte. (Also dubiously dubbed “Tiger Heron” in The Tales That Must Not Be Named.)
- Before EMO mode ends, activate Hisui’s Emotional Combination Blaster by holding L after cleanly connecting with an attack or Arte.
- (This method of activation not final and is subject to change)
And that’s it! Now, you, too, can become a master of EMO! Aim for a true procombo by finishing the enemy off with a totally pro Fatal Strike afterwards (hold A at the end of the High Ohgee when the enemy is flashing at low HP).

Given the apparent suckiness of Tales of The Tale That Must Not Be Named, you should totally release a translation for A certain DS version that doesnt suck instead. Just wait until after the Unnamed One has sold all it will sell and then no harm done. 🙂

PS. Did anyone else find the fully translated TOH patch hidden on this page? Not the demo. I’m running now on my flashcart and past the first three villages, fully translated. Leave it to Kaji to release on April Fools. Never gets old does it?

Tales of Hearts ds fever is certainly dying ever since that awful release. I don’t know about you guys, but I still want to play the ds version.

Recently replayed the one demo patch and found Hisui’s additional Hi-Ougi in one of the stats on his titles. Time sure flies, huh? I’ve been following this project since I started high school and have long since graduated.
I hope one day my grandchildren can enjoy Tales of Hearts in English on DS :”)

So…Hearts is coming out right? I’m about 5 hours into Hearts R and I’m gonna just sell it. Outside of Tempest it’s the worst Tales I’ve ever played, and looking at Hearts/Playing the Director’s Cut, god how did R even become a thing?
I really want to enjoy Hearts and that crapfest R isn’t gonna cut it. Don’t leave us hanging!
